Ed Deepneau est l'un des personnages principaux du roman Insomnie, de Stephen King. Ed tente de faire s'écraser un avion dans le Centre social de Derry, afin de pouvoir mettre fin à la manifestation pro-avortement qui s'y tient. Ed pense que sa cible principale est la féministe Susan Day. Il est loin de se douter qu'il n'est que le pion du Roi Cramoisi, qui a pour but d'assassiner le petit Patrick Danville, âgé de quatre ans. Heureusement pour Roland de Gilead, le plan du Roi Cramoisi échoue. Au niveau de la Tour où se constitue la Tet Corporation, Ed Deepneau était un gentil bibliothécaire, mort en 1947. Il est parent d'Aaron Deepneau et de Nancy Deepneau.
