Arte (prononcé /aʁte/), acronyme d’Association relative à la télévision européenne, est une chaîne franco-allemande de service public et à vocation européenne, créée le 30 avril 1991 et basée à Strasbourg

Diffusant depuis le 30 mai 1992, et composée à parité de deux pôles : Arte France et Arte Deutschland TV, la chaîne est un groupement européen d’intérêt économique (GEIE) et est parfois dénommée pour cette raison Arte GEIE. Elle est disponible sur la TNT, le câble, le satellite, la télévision par xDSL et Internet

Les programmes d’Arte sont disponibles gratuitement dans un délai imparti variable entre six mois et en disponibilité infinie sur le site web et l’application ARTE TV pour smartphone, tablette et télévision connectée ainsi que sur leurs chaînes YouTube. Arte propose aussi un service de replay dédié aux spectacles (ARTE Concert), une webradio (Arte radio), et des partenariats éducatifs (ARTE Éducation)

Depuis 2015, certains programmes en ligne sont sous-titrés en anglais, espagnol, polonais et italien.
