Viganella est une ancienne commune de la province du Verbano-Cusio-Ossola dans la région Piémont en Italie

En 2016, Viganella a fusionné avec Seppiana, devenues Borgomezzavalle.

Géographie

Viganella se situe dans la vallée Antrona, qui est si étroite et si profonde que Viganella ne reçoit aucun rayon de soleil de la mi-novembre à fin janvier.

Un miroir géant de 8 × 5 mètres est installé, depuis le , sur la montagne qui domine Viganella et reflète les rayons du Soleil en hiver pour illuminer la place centrale,,. Le projet a été étudié par d'autres administrations à l'étranger et il a été repris par le village norvégien de Rjukan,.

Histoire

Les habitants de Viganella formaient une communauté de mineurs, exploitant le fer et le charbon .

Le 21 juillet 1217, l’évêque de Novare, Oldeberto Torneffi, loue à un maître fondeur un four à Vai Magliasca dans la commune de Viganella.
