Jacqueline gets a job in the jewelry section of a New York department store. The son of a store vice president comes in one day and tells her how well a special necklace would look on her. She is swept off her feet and in the coming days she expects that he is going to present the necklace to her. Instead, he enters the store with the daughter of the store owner and repeats the same words about the necklace to the other girl, treating Jacqueline as if they had never met.
