Alto de Guajara - cabane de l’astronome Jean Mascart

Sur le sommet de l'Alto de Guajara, à 2715 mètres d'altitude, il reste encore des murs de la cabane de l’astronome français Jean Mascart, lors de son étude de la comète Halley à l’occasion de son passage près de la Terre en 1910.

Au travers du cadre formé par la fenêtre, la vue sur le Teide est magique. L'abri que constituent les restes de murs permet de s’asseoir un peu à l'abri du vent pour une petite collation sympa, méritée après la grimpette depuis la Degollada de Guajara.
