Église Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel de San Ġiljan

L'Église paroissiale de Notre-Dame du Mont Carmel, ou simplement connue sous le nom de Église des Carmélites ou Église paroissiale de Balluta , est une église paroissiale catholique romaine néo-gothique située dans la baie de Balluta, dans la ville de St Julian's, à Malte.


N'ayant pas de trépied avec moi, l'appareil est simplement déposé sur la balustrade pour me permettre une vitesse d'exposition assez lente.


Historique


L'église actuelle, qui est un monument important à St Julians, date du début au milieu du 20e siècle. L'église des Carmélites d'origine était une petite chapelle néo-gothique qui a été construite en 1859 sur les plans de Giuseppe Bonavia. . L'église a été reconstruite en 1877 sur les plans de Emanuele Luigi Galizia. Elle a ensuite été remise aux frères carmélites qui l'ont reconstruite à nouveau en 1900 sur les plans de l'architecte Gustavo R. Vincenti. Après sa mort, Joseph M. Spiteri prend la relève. L'église a ensuite été agrandie en 1958. En 1974, la zone autour de l'église a été créée en paroisse, distincte de la paroisse de St Julians, et l'église des Carmélites a été choisie comme église paroissiale. L'église a été consacrée le 12 décembre 1984.
