Avec l’aide de Roland dans son esprit, Eddie est cuisiné par les policiers des douanes. Pendant ce temps, Roland est obligé de pour déplacer son corps à l’abri des homarstruosités. Au bout de deux heures, les policiers sont forcés de relâcher Eddie faute de preuve (la drogue se trouve dans un autre monde, sur la plage des homarstruosités).
Âge d’Eddie
Il y a une incohérence dans le récit à propos de l’âge d’Eddie; p287, Eddie déclare à Odetta qu’il a 23 ans, et qu’il est né en 1964. Par contre, p100 on peut lire il conservait en lui assez d’acier pour en concéder une partie, armer un pauvre junkie paniqué de vingt et un printemps
. Hors Eddie est âgé de 23 ans et non 21 en 1987.
