Ye Wenjie suit deux années de maîtrise d’astrophysique donnés par le professeur Ruan Wen qui devient son amie. Les cours sont arrêtés avec le lancement de la révolution en 1967.
Durant ses deux années de troisième cycle, elle et son professeur ont l’occasion de tester le premier petit radiotélescope chinois.

Dans le chapitre 1, Liu Cixin écrit que Ruan Wen était son enseignante.
Dans le chapitre 12, il utilise le genre masculin pour désigner l’enseignant, donc je suppose qu’il s’agit d’une autre personne, et que cette période se déroule avant cette période de deux ans (surtout qu’il y est aussi mentionné que son père était loin de partager le point de vue de l’enseignant, donc c’est avant son assassinat en 1967).
