Oristano (de l'italien) ou Aristanis (du sarde) est une ville, chef-lieu de la province de même nom en Sardaigne, en Italie.

Toponymie

En sarde, Aristhanis, en espagnol Oristan et en catalan Oristany.

Géographie

Oristano se trouve dans la plaine du Campidano.

Histoire

C'était la capitale du judicat d'Arborée jusqu'en 1410, après l'abandon de la première capitale, Tharros. En 1637, dans le cadre de la guerre de Trente Ans, la flotte française commandée par la comte d'Harcourt débarquait et prenait possession de la ville en détruisant les fortifications.
