La Thessaliotide (Θεσσαλιῶτις / Thessaliôtis) s'étend dans la plaine centrale de Thessalie, le long de la rivière Pénée. Elle aurait été appelée ainsi parce qu'elle a été occupée par les Thesprotes venus d'Épire, dont le roi légendaire est Thessalos, fils d'Héraclès. D'autres origines mythologiques ont été proposées.
