Le Tâtre, sous-affluent de la Charente par le Trèfle et la Seugne arrose la commune et le bourg.

Toponymie

L'origine du nom de Saint-Germain-de-Vibrac provient de saint Germain, à qui la paroisse a été dédiée, ainsi qu'à un nom de personne gallo-romain Vibrius auquel est apposé le , ce qui correspondrait à Vibriacum, « domaine de Vibrius ».
