Tazara : descriptif

Le Tazara a un climat tropical et abrite à la fois des déserts et des jungles ; sa faune comprend des chameaux, des chevaux et des éléphants. Il est divisé en « deux grands et longs pays » : l'Ozamaland, qui occupe la côte est, et l'Amaland à l'ouest. ( Capitaine Salt dans Oz )

Continuité

La première édition de Captain Salt in Oz donne deux orthographes différentes pour ce nom, d'abord « Tarara » puis « Tazara ». Étant donné le goût de Thompson pour les noms dans ce livre, « Tazander Tazah of Ozamaland » et dans d'autres, « Tazzywaller » et « Tozzyfog » ; « Tazara » est très probablement ce que l'auteur avait prévu, et « Tarara » une erreur d'impression. L'erreur était peut-être une référence à la chanson de music-hall « Ta-ra-ra Boom-de-ay ».

Il n'existe pas de carte quasi officielle de Tazara. La carte de Haff-Martin la conserve hors page, avec un panneau indiquant « Vers Ozamaland » à l'extrémité ouest.
