En programmation orientée objet, opération qui consiste à regrouper, dans des entités distinctes (objets), les données et les procédures (méthodes) qui les manipulent. L'encapsulation facilite la manipulation des objets puisqu'elle dissimule aux utilisateurs les méthodes et les données dont ils n'ont donc pas à tenir compte lors de la programmation.
