(angl: Audio video interleave.)
Procédé de compression logicielle qui inclut son et image synchronisés.
Format de fichier d’animation qui présente l’avantage de pouvoir être utilisé sans carte d’extension spécialisée (autant lors de l’affichage que pour la compression) et sur pratiquement n’importe quel type de processeur.
Les compressions DivX utilisent actuellement l'extension .avi.
