Une femme survit à la tentative de meurtre d'un serial killer, qui lui laisse cependant d'importantes séquelles. Elle souffre désormais de prosopagnosie, un trouble de la reconnaissance et de l'identification. Elle ne reconnaît plus les visages et doit refaire sa vie au milieu d'un monde devenu indiscernable. Pendant qu'elle essaye avec l'aide de la police d'identifier son agresseur, ce dernier s'efforce d'éliminer l'unique témoin de ses crimes…
