AD - Anno Domini et BC - Avant Jésus-Christ: Le système le plus utilisé sur la Terre moderne, supposément daté de la naissance de Jésus-Christ en l'an 1 (l'abréviation Anno Domini signifie "Année de notre Seigneur"). Ce calcul a été plus tard révélé comme étant erroné de quelques années, mais l'an 1 est resté le même. Les années avant l'an 1 sont en "BC", commençant par 1 BC et remontant à partir de là. AD et BC sont souvent appelés de manière plus laïque "CE" (Ère Commune) et "BCE" (Avant l'Ère Commune)
