De 24 à 36 PRD, pendant près de 12 ans, Roland prend en chasse Walter. Il visite les ruines de Gilead, désormais envahies par la fléole des prés et le lierre. Les cuisines de l’ancienne forteresse grouillent de Lents Mutants. Roland se rend à Élurie, où il se fait capturer par les Verdâtres, et finit entre les griffes des vampiriques Petites Sœurs d’Elurie. Il réussit à s’enfuir.

Choix de dates

Dans ma version du Pistolero, Stephen King écrit page 164 (ch10 de l’oracle et les montagnes): A l’issue des ces douze années de poursuite impitoyable…, et dans la nouvelle version, Douze ans après leur dernier regard, Roland l’avait vu de nouveau en face…

On peut donc estimer que l’on se trouve en 36 PRD.

En 36 PRD, Roland Deschain est sur la piste de l’Homme en Noir. C’est ainsi que débutent les aventures de La Tour Sombre, dans le premier roman.

Roland entre dans Tull et se fait attaquer par surprise par les disciples de la prêtresse folle Sylvia Pittston, servante du Roi Cramoisi et maîtresse de l’Homme en Noir (alias Walter O’Dim). Roland tue toute la population de Tull, y compris Alice, qui est devenue sa maîtresse.
