Len Wein est né le 12 juin 1948 à Levittown (USA). C'est alors un garçon plutôt chétif. Un jour, lors d'un nouveau séjour à l'hôpital, son père pour le distraire lui apporte une pile de comics. Une révélation ! Il décide alors de dédier tous ses efforts à se frayer un chemin dans cet univers. Et avec quel succès ! Batman, Spider-Man, New X-Men, Human Target, Phantom Stranger... Swamp Thing reste néanmoins sa création la plus aboutie, celle qu'il définit comme étant "une de ces rares occasions où tout fonctionne parfaitement à l'unisson". Len Wein est aujourd'hui considéré comme un des meilleurs auteurs de comics.
