Ismaël Tayeb est lieutenant dans un gang criminel. Son grand patron lui donne un ordre qu'il ne peut refuser : trouver une pile nucléaire... Pour cela il va devoir remettre en marche et voler le dernier Atlas, un de ces immenses robots français qui géraient des constructions titanesques jusqu'au milieu des années 70, mais qui, suite à un grave incident à Batna durant la guerre d'Algérie, ont tous été démantelés… Au même moment, Françoise Halfort, ex-reporter de guerre, se retrouve confrontée dans le parc de Tassili à un phénomène écologique et sismique sans précédent.
