Oklahoma, 1910. La vie de Thomas Winczlav, fils de Milan, prend un tournant radical lorsqu'il se découvre héritier des richissimes whiskies O'Casey, qu'il va devoir partager avec sa sœur jumelle, Lisa… Alors que la Première Guerre mondiale éclate, Thomas - parfois crédule et souvent volage - va tenter de faire fructifier son affaire, adoptant le nom de « Winch ». Pendant ce temps, Lisa, femme libre passionnée d'aviation, va se tailler sa place dans un ciel de guerre dominé par un certain Baron rouge…
