Morane passe par une galerie secondaire et arrive en plein, après un passage par un puit plein d’eau en forme de "U" dans le temple, dans la salle du Livre d’Or, éclairée par des torches. Repartant il rencontre Loomie, sa petite voleuse de Tobago.
Pendant ce temps, Ballantine et Clairembart sont capturés par Higgins. Les Lacandons gardiens du temple attaquent au moment où Bill va être torturé, les complices d’Higgins sont abattus, et lui même fait prisonnier.
