Piotrek Kowalski est né à Varsovie en 1973. Comme beaucoup de ses compatriotes, il découvre la bande dessinée à travers les aventures de Thorgal. Vingt ans plus tard, il renonce à une carrière d’enseignant par amour pour le dessin et se lance dans la jungle des agences de pub. Il n’en oublie pas son objectif pour autant et il signe «Gail», une série en 4 tomes, chez Egmont Polska, l’éditeur qui possède les droits de… Thorgal ! Sa rencontre avec Gregroz Rosinski, en 2004, le convainc plus que jamais de s’accrocher à ses rêves. Ce dernier l’invite au festival de Sierre la même année. Il y fait la connaissance des Editions du Lombard, pour lesquelles il dessine à présent «La Branche Lincoln», sur un scénario d’Emmanuel Herzet.
