A photographer notices a girl climbing down the side of a house from an upper story window at night. Thinking he would do well to leave, curiosity gets the better of him and he ends up taking the girl out that night. This decision would change both their lives. She is blind and had sneaked out to feed a dog, who is her only friend. Her aunt and uncle only take care of her to receive the money left for her by her parents. When she later runs away with the dog, she ends up back with the photographer. But despite his kind heart, he has a secret too. He is part of a gold-smuggling operation.
