Abandoned by a man who has promised to marry her, Charline drives into the night until she has to stop at the next town to sleep. In the morning, she discovers she has been driving in the wrong direction and is now by the coast. Walking along the beach alone, she is interrupted when a helicopter flies overhead and the pilot drops a single rose on the beach near her and then flies off. Later, she meets the pilot and falls in love with him so quickly, that she doubts her ability to know what love is.
