Aokautere est une banlieue de la ville de Palmerston North, située dans la région de Manawatu-Wanganui, dans l’île du Nord de la Nouvelle-Zélande.
Toponymie
La ville d’Aokautere est dénommée d’après Te Aokautere, un grand chef des Rangitane durant la fin du XVIIIe siècle. Au Fitzherbert, d’après l’homme politique William Fitzherbert, qui fit la promotion de la colonisation de la région de Manawatū . Le bâtiment de la Fitzherbert East Dairy Factory porte toujours ce nom actuellement .
