Pingyao

Pingyao (chinois simplifié : 平遥 ; chinois traditionnel : 平遙 ; pinyin : Píngyáo ; litt

« Confins calmes ») est une ville de la province du Shanxi en Chine

Elle est le chef-lieu du xian éponyme, placé sous la juridiction de la ville-préfecture de Jinzhong

À vol d'oiseau, elle est située à 81,5 km au sud-sud-ouest de la capitale provinciale Taiyuan et à 475 km au sud-ouest de Pékin. Inscrite en 1997 au Patrimoine mondial de l'humanité de l'UNESCO, la cité n’a subi que peu de changements depuis la dynastie Ming

Elle a conservé l'intégralité de ses hauts remparts historiques et, à l’intérieur, de nombreuses demeures d’architecture traditionnelle.

Histoire

La ville de Pingyao a été un important centre financier sous la dynastie Qing, de nombreuses banques s'y sont développées. Les transferts d'argent interbancaires y ont été créés. Des escortes ont également été formées aux arts martiaux chinois pour accompagner les transports de fonds et les protéger. Plusieurs lieux de leurs entraînements peuvent aujourd'hui être visités :

  • l'agence de la première escorte armée de Chine du Nord ;
  • l'agence chinoise de l'escorte armée ;
  • l'agence de l'escorte armée de Tong Xing Gong ;
  • le musée Huiwulin (musée des arts martiaux).
