Le tome 2 commence avec Rorschach au restaurant qu'il fréquente après avoir été battu presque à mort par Rawhead (crâne cru) et son gang. Nancy, la serveuse est gentille alors Rorschach fidèle à lui-même, part brusquement. Par chance, il est alors capable de se venger de l'un de ses assaillants. Chez lui, il constate qu'il n'a pas de nourriture dans le frigo, ce qui l'oblige à s'aventurer à l'extérieur alors qu'il n'a pas encore totalement récupéré de son passage à tabac. La scène suivante se passe dans une boîte de nuit où Crâne Cru est confronté à l'un de ses gars qui vient de survivre à une rencontre avec Rorschach. Cette confrontation finit par profiter à un tigre. L'histoire revient à Rorschach qui retourne au restaurant lorsque son état s'aggrave. Après quelques jours à l'hôpital, Rorschach est suffisamment rétabli pour chercher Crâne Cru, et il commence avec un proxénète nommé Joe. Après avoir torturé un peu Joe, le livre se termine là où les choses vont commencer à devenir laides.
